Obituary of Robert D. Newland

Bedford Robert D. Newland, 87, of 2234 Brooke Ave., Bedford, died at 3:54 pm on Monday, December 15, 2008 at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford. Born May 20, 1921 in Bedford, he was the son of Dean and Myra Candy (Stipp) Newland. He married Beulah Taylor on February 21, 1944 and she preceded him in death. He was a retired pilot for Cummins in Columbus, IN and a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Bedford, the Old Timers Club of Bedford Airport and Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Survivors include one son, Larry Newland and his wife, Shannon of Bedford; two grandchildren, Heather Prince and her husband, Mike, Michelle Newland and her fiancee Mike Brekke all of Bedford; seven great grandchildren, Jacob, Abigail, Evan and Isaiah Prince, Brooklynn, Hunter and Bret; one brother, Joseph Newland of Columbus, OH; a nephew, Derek Newland. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a nephew, David Newland. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, December 19th at the Free Methodist Church in Bedford with Rev. John Lane officiating.
