Obituary of Emma Ellen Adams

Bedford – Emma Ellen Adams, 90, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at her residence. Born August 10, 1933, she was the daughter of George and Beerock (Walters) Goldsby. She married James Edward Adams on December 31, 1951, and he survives. She had worked in the personnel office at Belk Lindsey Department Store. She was a member of the Grace Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, James, of Bedford; five daughters, Penny Ellen Duvall and husband, Greg, of Palmetto, FL, Candy Sue McCaskill and husband, Randy, of Bredenton, FL, Melody Ann Dewitt and husband, Steve, of Titusville, FL, Sherry Lynn Millbourn, of Sarasota, FL, and Emmy Jo Williams and husband, Ricky, of Bedford; one son, Jim Adams, of Terra Ceia, FL; nine grandchildren, Tammy Duvall, Dwight Smith, Emily Roman and husband, Kevin, Samantha Wesner and husband, Travis, Shawn Williams and wife, Heidi, Dr. Leigh Mast and husband, Andy, Andrew Dewitt and wife, Jamie, Steven Dewitt, Robert Dewitt; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Georgia Key and husband, Don, of Bedford. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, James Dean Adams; three sisters, Mary Lou Brown, Peggy Rose Taylor, and Jean Kathleen Goldsby Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 22nd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Phil Stroud officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
