Obituary of Kenneth A. Simmerman

Bedford – Kenneth A. Simmerman, 71, of Bedford, died at 9:08 pm on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Monroe Hospital in Bloomington.

Born April 19, 1948 in Bedford, he was the son of Elmer and Mary (Owens) Simmerman. He married Debra S. Thompson on September 28, 1979 and she survives. He was a graduate of the Bedford High School. He was a retired millwright for General Motors and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the VietnamWar with Charlie Company Big Red 1 First Infantry Division. He was a member of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion and the Bedford Boat & Sportsman’s Club. He was an outstanding photographer, a dedicated musician, avid guitarist, and loved to cook.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie, of Bedford; a son, Jason Simmerman and wife, Traci, of Bedford; a grandson, Logan Smith; a brother, Gordon Simmerman and wife, Margaret, of Harrodsburg; nephews, Alan Simmerman, of Harrodsburg and Brian Simmerman, of Dayton, OH; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Ann Thompson, of Bedford; sister-in-law, Dianna Armstrong and husband, Tim, of Avoca; niece, Jennifer Erwin and husband, Bart, and their son, Shade, of Lafayette; brother-in-law, Richard Thompson and wife, Jeannette, of Oolitic; nephew, Eric Thompson and wife, Michelle and their children, Kylie and Bryce, of Fishers; niece, Natalie Forte and husband, Mike; nieces, Nicole Forte and Ali Forte and fiancé, Cody George and their son, Axel, all of Oolitic.

Graveside service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 30^th in the Williams Cemetery with Ed Owens officiating.  Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
