Obituary of Gordon Lee Reuter
Bedford Gordon Lee Reuter joined his Lord on September 11, 2004 after a short illness. Gordon was 72 and a devoted husband, father, grandfather and son. He was born on May 1, 1932 in Lawrence County, Indiana.
He served as a member of the United States Air Force for 23 years and reached the top rank of Chief Master Sergeant before retiring in 1974. He served proudly, received several medals during his enlistment and was a Vietnam Veteran. After his service to his country, he attended and received an accounting degree from Indiana University and joined the accounting firm of Marshall Hatfield, which he later acquired ownership of. At a later date, he joined the accounting firm of Sallee & Company on a part-time basis.
Gordon enjoyed people and held memberships in many organizations. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church and held several different offices during his long membership. He was currently the secretary of the Southern Indiana Chapter of the Air Force Association, and in the past has served as president. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Greenhill Cemetery Association, the Elks club and the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.
Gordon was a clock collector and along with his wife Margot and dear friends Bill and Faye Cassidy, traveled the country attending shows and buying and selling older clocks. He enjoyed rebuilding and refinishing the clocks, a hobby he started in 1969 while stationed in Germany. He was also an avid Indiana University basketball fan, a sport he himself participated in most of his life.
Gordon now joins his father, Robert Lee Reuter, and his son Raymon Earl Reuter. Gordon leaves behind many friends and family members who feel the painful loss of his departure. Gordon was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Margot, who was his devoted and loving wife to the end. He was a dedicated son to his mother Helen Reuter. He was a loving and wise father to his son, Ronald D. Reuter and his wife Linda, his daughter Mona L. Gould and her husband Danny and his daughter-in-law Ruth Reuter. He was a loving and bragging grandfather to Elizabeth Wuertz and her husband Matt, Laura and Hannah Gould and Alisha, Erin and Casey Reuter.
We, his family and friends, will deeply miss Gordon and his extremely optimistic view of life. He was a family man extraordinaire, a blessed friend to many, a man who knew the Lord and a man who through his many years, touched so many lives. Funeral Information
