Obituary of James Warren Ray
Columbus James Warren Ray, 90, formerly of Bedford, died at 5:00 pm on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Born November 23, 1920 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Daniel and Bertha (Phillippe) Ray. He married Katherine Pierce on November 4, 1942 and she preceded him in death on July 11, 2008. James was retired from A&H Truck Lines and worked several years for Kirks Grocery. James was a member of Fayetteville Baptist Church and attended the First Baptist Church of Bedford. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Norris and husband Rondell, of Columbus; two grandsons, Adam Norris of Indianapolis, and Kyle Norris and wife Amy of Fargo, North Dakota; one brother, Lewis C. Ray of Indianapolis; one sister, Wanda Conolty, of Bedford; and two great granddaughters, Caitlyn and Ashlan of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Robert Ray; and four sisters, Lois Turpen, Geneva Speer, Marjorie Briscoe, and Charlotte Ryan. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Reverend Byron Gibson officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to the time of service on Tuesday, March 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
