Obituary of Jack Lee Batchelor

Bedford Jack Lee Batchelor, 74, a resident at Johnsons Christian Village on Hwy. 158 and formerly of Oolitic, died at 4:00 am on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at his residence. Born January 13, 1934 in Chrisman, IL, he was the son of Frank and Zora Alice (Tolbert) Batchelor. He married Jacoba Colbie Hoekstra on December 21, 1983 and she died on October 30, 2004. He retired from General Motors in 1992 after thirty years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Gillen Post #33 and V.F.W. Post #1686. Survivors include one son, Andy Batchelor and his wife, Diane of Bedford; one step-daughter, Tammy Peppers and her husband, Sean of Dearborn, MI; one step-son, Richard Lamey and his wife, Tracey of Dearborn, MI; one sister, Martha Knight of Mitchell; two brothers, Delbert L. Batchelor of Veedersburg, IN and Edward C. Batchelor of Rochester, IN; one grandchild, Lacie Pruett of Roachdale, IN and two step grandchildren, Krista George and Jennifer Morris of Beford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Philip Batchelor; his parents; one brother, Frank Batchelor, Jr.; three sisters, Aileen Batchelor, Alice Irene Brown and Linda Sue Wigley. Funeral Information No calling or services are scheduled. Cremation was chosen with committal at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
