Obituary of Melody L. Raines

Fayetteville Melody Lynn Raines, 67, of Fayetteville, passed away after a brief illness on July 4, 2011 with her family by her side. Born July 29, 1943, she was the daughter of Leonard and Alice (Huggins) Patten. She married Bill N. Raines on July 14, 1962 and he survives. She was employed by RCA in earlier years and later worked as a librarian and Title I aide at Fayetteville Elementary School for twenty-four years. She loved working with the students, giving them love and affection. She served as secretary and historian for the Fayetteville P.T.O. She attended the House of Prayer in Fayetteville. Survivors include her husband, Bill of Fayetteville; three sons, Timothy Dean Raines and wife, Melinda, Steven Wayne Raines and wife, Kim, Bill Andrew Raines all of Bedford; two daughters, Denise Marie Stephens and husband, Morris of Springville and Sharon Elizabeth King of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Brandon Hartman, Jessica Raines, Brandi Raines, Whitney Raines, Emilee Raines, Madeleine King and Lilliana King; a sister, Ellen Townsend and husband, Fred, of Bloomington; a brother, Niles Butch Patten and wife, Cathy, of Bedford. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, July 8th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Max Abel and Pastor John Wisley officiating. Burial will follow in the House of Prayer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 7th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Friday, July 8th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
