Obituary of Marjorie Maxine Quackenbush

Bedford Marjorie Maxine Quackenbush, 84, of Bedford passed away on January 1, 2012, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimers disease. Born August 19, 1927 in Mitchell, the eldest daughter of Lyle and Grace Ruby (Greer) Franklin. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1945. Marjorie married Jerry Kenneth Quackenbush from Bedford, owner of The R Street Grocery. Married over sixty years, they had a long, happy life together. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Bedford where she taught Sunday school, was active in a womens circle and helped annually with the church bazaar. Marjorie was also an active member of Kappa Kappa Sigma social sorority for many years. She also worked at the R Street Grocery alongside her husband. She loved needlework, reading, and gardening. She adored her family. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Kenneth Quackenbush of Bedford; daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Steve Bower of Columbia, SC, Martha and J.R. Holmes of Bloomington, Nancy and Rex Bennett of Greenwood; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Holmes, Meredith (Holmes) Johnson, Katelyn Bennett, Hannah Bennett, Lindsay Bower, Stephanie Bower and Caroline Bower. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Helen Louise Hicks and Margaret Spaulding. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, January 6th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Beth Ann Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 5th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
