Obituary of Kenneth Plummer
Bedford Kenneth M. Plummer, Jr., 80, of 23 Q Street, Bedford, died at 4:10 am on Friday, January 07, 2011 at Garden Villa.
Born June 22, 1930 in Bedford, he was the son of Kenneth M. Plummer, Sr. and Amy Lee (Cummings) Plummer. He married Ruth Stailey on December 22, 1952 and she survives. He was the former president of the Day & Carter Mortuary, retiring in 2006. He was a member and former trustee of the First Baptist Church, a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM, Bedford York Rite Bodies, IFDA, life member and past commander of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion, Voiture 40 & 8, life member and former exalted ruler of the Bedford Elks Lodge, President of North Lawrence Holding Corp., former member of the Bedford School Board and Democratic City Councilman under the Lovell Harp administration. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed several hobbies including farming, raising cattle, gardening, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of Bedford; one son, Marty Plummer and wife, Roberta, of Bedford; one daughter, Lee Ann Plummer of Bedford; one grandson, Jeremy Plummer of Bedford; one great grandson, Jesse Plummer of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 11th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military rites accorded at the graveside. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, January 10th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday, January 11th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Donations Information
