Obituary of Virginia Lake Pickens
Bedford Virginia Lake Pickens, 83, of 811 25th Street, Bedford, died at 11:40 PM on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born June 27, 1920, she was the daughter of Hershel and Sarah Alice (Canada) Lake. She married Elwin Pickens on July 27, 1937, and he preceded her in death. She retired from GM Powertrain and was a life-long member of the Christ Temple Pentecostal Church in Bedford.
Survivors include four sons, Ray Pickens of Danville, IN, Jim, Joseph and John Pickens all of Bedford; four daughters, Shirley Wildman of Shoals, Ruth Walters and Janice Romine both of Bedford and Cheryl Tieman of Springville; one brother, James Lake; three sisters, Bernice Johnson of Stanford, IN, Patty Hedrick and her husband Bob of Bedford and Jane Eagan and her husband Charles of Fayetteville; seventeen grandchildren; five great grandchildren and special friends, Tim and Carol Watson of Bedford. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers, two sisters and one grandchild. Funeral Information
A life celebration service for Virginia will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 7th at the Christ Temple Pentecostal Church with Pastors Elliott and Chris Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 6th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Friday, May 7th at the Christ Temple Pentecostal Church.
