Obituary of Alan James Pershing

Bloomington Alan James Pershing, 53, of Bloomington, died at 8:00 am on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at his residence. Born August 24, 1959 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Charles and Wanda (Hobson) Pershing. He was a printer at Baugh Enterprises and a peer counselor at Centerstone. He attended Fairview Methodist Church, was a member of the Central Indiana Bird Club and National Hobby Railroad Assoc. He enjoyed sculpting, jewelry making, model rail roading, spending time with his birds and fishing. Survivors include his father, Charles, of Bloomington; two sisters, Sheila Thompson and husband, Jim of Columbus; Gwendolyn Pershing of Bloomington; one brother, C. Thomas Pershing and wife, Dana of Wetumpka, AL; nieces and nephews, Jennie Thompson-Griffin and husband, Greg of Greensburg; Kevin Thompson and wife, Ronelle of Columbus; Michael Thompson and wife, Emily of Bismark, ND; Sarah and Katherine Pershing of Wetumpka, AL; several aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother; maternal grandparents, Leathel and May Hobson; paternal grandparents, William and Catherine Pershing. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, October 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with John Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, October 14th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
