Obituary of William R. Perry

Williams William R. Perry, 74, of 498 Perry Road, Williams, IN, passed away at 4:18 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at I. U. Health Bedford Hospital. Born October 6, 1937, in North Vernon, he was the son of Russell Aaron and Pearl Leona (Smaltz) Perry. He married Carolyn R. Sowders on September 12, 1959 and she survives. He was raised in Bedford and attended Bedford High School. Bill was employed as an electrician with I.B.E.W. Local #1393 for many years and also with Local #17 in Detroit, MI. He retired in 2000. Bill was a Journeyman Lineman and Foreman for many years. He loved to farm and raise cattle. His pastimes were hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Bill is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Williams; sons, Timothy (Roz) Perry of Mitchell, Michael (Rosezona) Bowden of Corydon; daughters, Karen (Robert Stine) Cooper of Orleans, Michele (Glen Morris) Palmer of Virden, New Mexico, Belinda (Dave) Smale of Bedford and Shonda (Troy Bakker) Beach of Williams; fourteen grandchildren, Jeff (Samantha) Perry, Dustin (Haley) Perry, Justin Perry, Ryan Perry, Whitney Perry, Jessica (James) Dillman, Julia Cooper, Derek Cooper, Devin (Renee) Smale, Bryce Smale, Cyle (Breianon) Beach, Cole Beach, Michael Bowden II and Jayden Bowden; five great grandchildren, Cerilene Roe, Dylan Perry, Avah Cooper, Grayson Perry, Mya Smale; sisters, Mary (Charlie) Mellott, Jill Benton, Ellen (Bill) Mitchell, Linda (Frank) Taylor and Nancy (Ron) Howard; brothers-in-law, James Hearn and Tuck Doane. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenn Perry; sisters, Carolyn Sesma, Margaret Crites, Jan Doane and Charotte Hearn; a son-in-law, John Palmer; a brothers-in-law, Jack Meadows, Lou Sesma and George Crites; nieces and nephews, Byron Dean Sowders, Roger Doane, Kim Hearn, Erin Mellott , and his father and mother-in-law, Gerald and Thelma Sowders. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 25th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Ferrell Sowder and Pastor Randy Corbin officiating. Burial will follow in Dive Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 24th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, February 25th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
