Obituary of Claude E. Parsons

Bedford Claude E. Parsons, 84, of Bedford, died at 7:13 pm on Monday, August 20, 2012 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital. Born August 1, 1928 in West Baden, IN, he was the son of Elvis Parsons and Lillian (Tomlinson) Stevens. He married Peggy Chenoweth on December 25, 1950 and she survives. He was a past editor and a feature writer for the Times-Mail and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Evening Lions Club, Elks Club and Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Peggy, of Bedford; two daughters, Rhonda OBrien and husband, Pat, Doreen Embree and husband, Duane all of Bedford; six grandchildren, Brandon, Clayton and Logan OBrien, Luke (Christina) Embree, Neil (Jessica) Embree and Jennifer (Chad) Edwards; ten great grandchildren, Josie and Avery OBrien, Jarrett Fortner, Hannah, Naomi and Caleb Embree, Scotlyn and Harper Embree, Claire and Natalie Edwards. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 24th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Beth Anne Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 23rd at the Day & Carter Donations Information In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
