Obituary of Robert D. Owens

Avoca, Robert D. Owens, Sr., 63 of Avoca, died at 3:00 a.m. on Monday, May 03, 2004 at his residence. Born on August 28, 1940 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Clarence and Maudie (Arthur) Owens. He married Sondra Williams on January 18, 1980 and she died in 1997. He retired from Times-Mail in Bedford and was a member of the Charity Chapel. Surviving is his mother: Maudie Owens of Springville, are three daughters: Sharon Brown of Springville, Regina Carver of Bloomington and Jennifer Hernandez and her husband, Jeremiah of Avoca; two sons: Robert D. Owens, Jr. of Bloomington and Jeremy Williams of Bedford; sixteen grandchildren: Jimmy Owens, Joseph Owens, Brandon Kidd, Rodney Kidd, Kevin Kidd, Chris Owens, Travis Cain, Ashley Cain, Austin Armstrong, Dillion Armstrong, Kaylee Owens, Dakota Owens, Hannah Williams, Haliegh Williams, Andrew Owens and Destiny Owens; one great granddaughter: Savannah Owens; three brothers: Wayne Owens and his wife Sandy, Estell Owens, Steve Owens and his wife, Sue all of Springville; three sisters: Myrna Jewell and her husband, John of Bedford, Patricia Owens of Bedford and Barbara Jones and her husband Lonnie of Springville. He was preceded in death by his father and wife. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5th, from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Sis. Becky Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in Byers Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, May 5th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
