Obituary of Samuel E. Osborn
Bedford Samuel E. Osborn, Jr., 83 of Bedford died Thursday, January 8, 2004 in Bedford.
Born December 10, 1920 in Odessa, MO to Dr. and Mrs. Samuel E. Osborn. He married Jeanne M. Moss on May 28, 1944 and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2003.
Dr. Osborn served as a dental officer in the U.S. Navy during WW II and again during the Korean War. He established his dental practice in Bedford in 1946 and continued the practice until 1996. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bedford where he had served as a deacon and later as an elder. He had been a member of the Bedford Rotary Club for over forty years. He was a life member of the American Dental Assoc., the Indiana Dental Assoc. and the South Central Indiana Dental Society where he served eighteen years as the Secretary-Treasurer. In 2001, he was awarded the Honor Dentist of the South Central Dental Society.
Survivors include one son, Samuel E. Osborn III and his wife Pamela G. of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Susan J. King and her husband, Ronald N. of Versailles, KY; five grandchildren, Samuel E. Osborn IV and his wife, Joey, J. Joseph Osborn and his wife, Elizabeth, Hannah Claire Osborn, Abigail Christine King and Amanda Marie King. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother, Dr. W.R. Osborn. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 13th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Bob Dailey officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, January 12th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church of Bedford.
