Obituary of Norman Eugene Oliver
East Oolitic Norman Eugene Oliver, 74, of 196 Mason Street, in East Oolitic, died October 3, 2007 at his residence.
Born March 19, 1933 in East Oolitic, the oldest of fourteen children. He was the son of Orval Oliver and Goldie (Swartz) Blackwell. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsmans Club. Norman enjoyed hunting and fishing. He hosted a catfish fry for family and friends each Labor Day. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include five sisters, Bonnie Watson and her husband, Charles of East Oolitic, Carol Holtsclaw and her husband, Jerry of Oolitic, Brenda Rhorer and her husband, Fred of Indianapolis, Wilma Wikle and her husband, Terry and Rita VanDeventer and her husband, Willard all of Bloomington; eight brothers, Clovis Oliver of Bloomington, John Oliver of Cypress, TX, Gary Oliver of Humble, TX, James Oliver of Houston, TX, Dallas and Steve Oliver both of Bedford and Kevin Blackwell of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronald Oliver; one brother, Melvin Oliver. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 6th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Millard Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillenburg Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 5th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
