Obituary of Elizabeth New

Oolitic Elizabeth New, 88, of Oolitic, passed away peacefully at 9:24 am on Monday, March 14, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born August 31, 1922 in Kentucky, she was the daughter of Lee and Beulah (Bennett) Hollars. She married Charles Robert Bob New on July 4, 1946 and he survives. She was a homemaker and attended the Oolitic Pentecostal Church. She was a current member of the New Life Trinity Holliness Tabernacle. Survivors include her husband, Charles Bob of Oolitic; one son, Barry New and wife, Mary Lou of Bedford; one daughter, Rita Barnes and husband, Dean of Oolitic; five grandchildren, Shannon (Jeannie) Barnes, Melissa (Brad) Weilbaker, Brandon (Cybil) New, Braxton Barnes and Heather Barnes; nine great grandchildren, Megan Barnes, Josie Barnes, Brittani Weilbaker, Braden Weilbaker, Brynleigh Barnes, Sadie Barnes, Addie Ward, Brilynn Weilbaker, Isaac New; two sisters, Margaret Flynn of Oolitic and Lena Covey of Kokomo; one brother, Orval Hollars of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ed, Andy and Odis Hollars and one grandson, Robert Dax New. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 17th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Keith Thompson, Bro. Mark Brock and Bro. Marty Speer officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 16th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday, March 17th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
