Obituary of Mabel Iris Neeley

Mitchell Mabel Iris Neeley, 81, of Mitchell, formerly of Bedford, died at 11:40 pm on Monday, December 8, 2008 at Mitchell Manor. Born January 18, 1927 in Jonesville, VA, she was the daughter of Claude and Maude (Woodward) Roop. She married Benjamin C. Neeley on January 30, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2002. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Fortner and her husband, Danny, Diana Hall and her husband, Jon, and Kim Bertolino and her husband, Tom all of Bedford; three sons, Ben Neeley and his wife, Jane and Roger Dale Neeley and his wife, Rita all of Bedford, Wendell Merle Neeley of Mitchell; two brothers, John C. Roop of Schertz, TX and Claude Roop of Mitchell; twenty grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Jeanette Bridwell and a granddaughter, Kelli Denise Neeley. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 11th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
