Obituary of Icel Naugle

Bedford Icel (Jackman) Naugle, 97, of 909 Lincoln Ave., Bedford, died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at her residence. Born June 14, 1914 in Martin Co., she was the daughter of Harry and Flossie (Stiles) Jackman. She married John Lee Naugle on August 27, 1950 and he preceded her in death on December 1, 1970. She was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1933. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in education from Indiana University. She also attended Purdue University and the University of Alaska. She retired after teaching for forty-seven years, at Shawswick Elementary from 1935 1940 and at Stalker Elementary from 1940 1982. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Retired Teachers of Lawrence County, Retired Teachers Assoc. of Indiana, A.A.R.P., and a charter member of Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She served on the Board of Directors for the Limestone Girls Club, the Board of Directors for the Bedford Public Library and was a trustee of the Green Hill Cemetery Assoc. She lived life to the fullest. Survivors include one niece; one nephew; three great nieces; three great nephews; several great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, George, Lewis and Harold Jackman; one sister, Ruby Drew and a niece, Sue Bentrud. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 20th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Rob Kirts officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation for close friends will be from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Wednesday, July 20th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
