Obituary of Merle J. Moore

Bedford Merle J. Moore, 91, of 3008 Shawnee Dr., Bedford, died at 8:15 pm on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Stonebridge Health Campus.Born July 31, 1916 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Lisker and Bertha (Chapman) Moore. He married Merdis Chastain on October 16, 1948 and she survives. He retired after thirty years as a truck driver at NWSC CRANE. He was a member of the Oolitic Church of Christ, Cecil Martin Post #250 American Legion of Mitchell, A.F.G.E. Union, N.A.R.F.E. and A.R.P.S. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WW II and was an ex- P.O.W. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Merdis and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wayne Moore; four sisters, Ilene Key, Cleophus Miller, Catherine Moore and Cleona Hackler; two sons, Michael and Merlin Moore. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 23rd from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Ed Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 22nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
