Obituary of Stephen Ray Barger

Avoca Stephen Ray Barger, 54, of Avoca died Sunday, February 2, 2003 at Bloomington Hospital following a brief illness. Born September 28, 1948 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Franklin C. and Helen M. (Rowe) Barger. He was employed by the Monroe County Community School Corporation in the maintenance/custodial department for thirty-one years. He attended Needmore School and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles AERIE #1085. He enjoyed hunting and camping. Survivors include one daughter, Juanita Ellen Felknor of Bedford; one son, Stephen Arron Barger of Avoca; two brothers, Joe E. Barger of Needmore and Jerry D. Barger of Avoca; four grandchildren, Samantha, Jessica and J.R. Turpin and Isaac Felknor of Bedford; one niece, Suzi Pointer of Spencer and one nephew, Bradley Barger of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1988 and his father in 1997. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, February 5th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Steve Goens and Rev. Lewis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 4th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
