Obituary of Melvina H. Hestand

Greencastle Melvina H. (Staggs) Hestand, 72, of 215 Wood Street, Greencastle, formerly of Indianapolis, died at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at her residence. Born July 27, 1934 in East Oolitic, IN, she was the daughter of Alfred H. and Josephine E. (Oliver) Staggs. She first married Louis Sutt and he preceded her in death. She later married John L. Hestand and he survives. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Surviving with her husband, John, are one daughter, Robin M. DeGarmo of Colorado; one son, James M. Sutt of Colorado; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin H. Dick Staggs of Buddha and Terry Staggs of Indianapolis; four sisters, Mary B. Copeland of Arizona, Janie Worley of Oklahoma, Judy Gee of Sanborn, IN and Helen Killion of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, one son, Danny Sutt, one daughter, Melissa A. Hestand and four brothers, Fred, Alfred, Gerald and Douglas Staggs. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 15th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Hillenburg Cemetery in Monroe County. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 14th and from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Tuesday, August 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. View Video Tribute
