Obituary of Ethel May Medlock

Bedford- Ethel M. Medlock, 88, of Bedford, passed away at her home with her loving family beside her on December 24, 2009. Born June 8, 1921 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Emmett O. and Pearl (Lewis) Patton. She married Hilbert Medlock on March 12, 1938 and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2002. She attended Patton Hill School, worked at RCA, home sales for Sarah Coventry Jewelry and was a Pink Lady for Dunn Hospital. Ethel made beautiful porcelain dolls and made clothes for them. She found it hard to part with her dolls when someone wanted them. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Stalker and husband Don of Bedford and Carolyn Kimbrel and husband David of Springville; one sister Francis New and husband Avery of Oolitic; five grandchildren Tammy Luttrel and husband Dan, Shawn Staggs and wife Carolyn, Shelly Whaley and husband Scott, Jody Terwiske and husband Tom, Amy Sams and husband Mike; ten great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Opal and Paul, one sister, Marjorie and one step sister, Mary Lynn. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Patton Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Day & Carter Mortuary from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, December 28th and from Noon until service time on Tuesday, December 29th.
