Obituary of George J. McMunn

Bloomington, George J. McMunn, Jr., 76, of 3222 Bradshire Court in Bloomington, died at 9:50 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17th, at the Meadowood Health Pavilion in Bloomington. Born on August 9, 1927 in Pennsylvania, he was the son of George J. McMunn, Sr. and F. LaVaughn Bestwick. He married Shirley Brooking on March 5, 1971 and she survives. George was an avid pilot and motorcycle enthusiast. His speech impaired by an early stroke, George still made an effort to engage in friendly conversation with strangers and friends alike. George was a World War II veteran and a 1952 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a BBA. He retired from management for Westinghouse Electric. He attended the Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, he was a member of Masonic Lodge, York Rite and Bahia Shrine Temple. Surviving with his wife of Bloomington; are three sons: George J. McMunn, III, and Edward T. McMunn both of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; Jeffrey S. Canada and his wife, Gloria D. of Bedford; one daughter: Susan L. Olenick and her husband, Gabe, of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 19th, at 6:00 p.m. from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park in East Mc Keesport, Pennsylvania. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19th, from the Day & Carter Mortuary.
