Obituary of Joan C. Brick
Bedford - Joan C. Brick, 91, of Bedford, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Serenity Springs at Northwood in Jasper.
Born May 12, 1933, in Antigo, WI, the daughter of Leonard and Edith (Benson) Mattek. After high school, she attended Warner Pacific College in Portland, OR graduating with a Religious Education Certificate. She then married Floyd Brick upon completion of his service in the U.S. Army, in August of 1955. He felt called to the ministry and they moved to Indiana for seven years of schooling. They spent 37 years serving churches of the Church of God, two in Wisconsin and two in Indiana. The last 17 years were in Bedford before retiring in 1997.
As a helpmate, Joan was involved in youth ministry, teaching, music, drama (youth plays) and visitation. She enjoyed artwork and cake decorating for family birthdays and special holidays. She loved to entertain family and friends in her home. Family camping with her husband and two sons was special. She dearly loved their pet dogs. She and her husband loved to travel. They were privileged to visit several countries overseas, the most memorable being Israel and the Holy Land sites. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her two sons and their families were so loved, and her most joyful moments were spent with them. She had a devout faith and loved serving the Lord. She greatly missed her husband of 60 1/2 years after his passing in 2016.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Brick and wife, Phyllis of Waterford, WI and Gary Brick and wife, Danita, of Jasper; six grandchildren, Maegan Brick and husband Nate Benzschawel, Jerrod Brick and wife Payton, Deidra Brick, Marla Brick, Andy Brick and wife, Megan, and Caitlyn Bates and husband, Hunter; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, James Mattek and wife, Susie, of WI; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 3rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Charlie Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday at the mortuary. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Samaritan's Purse, the ministry of Franklin Graham. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
