Obituary of Benny M. Maddox

Bedford Benny M. Maddox, 79, of 1518 Guthrie Road, Bedford, died at 4:35 pm on Monday, October 27, 2008 at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born September 19, 1929 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Cletus and Lessie (Hardin) Maddox. He married Glenda M. Lemon on November 13, 1954 and she survives. Benny loved farming and being in the outdoors. He enjoyed music, fishing and hunting. He once caught a wild turkey with his bare hands. He was a life-long attendee at the Valley Mission Church. He enjoyed life to the fullest, he never met a stranger and always had a good word about everyone. Benny was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War as a staff sergeant with the 999th Artillery Division. Survivors include his wife, Glenda; one son, Ted Maddox and his wife, Diane; one daughter, Anita Ritter and her husband, Gary all of Guthrie; grandchildren, Matthew Ritter and his wife, Andrea, Heather Moore and her husband, Matthew, Danielle Maddox and Jake Maddox; one great grandchild, Madelyn Grace Ritter; two step-great grandchildren, Tayler and Isiah Moore; one brother, Dale Maddox and his wife, Mildred of Guthrie; two sisters-in-law, Esta and Loretta Maddox both of Guthrie; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Richard, Harry, Ray, Roy and Gene. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 30th at the Valley Mission Church with Pastor Duane Brown and John Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 29th at the Valley Mission Church and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday, October 30th at the Valley Mission Church.
