I’m very saddened to read of Phil’s passing. Phil and I shared many memories together since we first met as members of the Bedford Junior High and then continued with the Senior High School Band under the leadership of Mr. Anderson; Phil played the trumpet. Phil also played the guitar around then where he was also a member of a local band that played at our Sock-Hops that were held in the then ‘Newer’ Auditorium of the ‘Old’ High School. We also traveled by plane with the high school band to San Antonio Texas for some special occasion that now escapes me. Away from band, Phil and a few of his classmates made a trip to Europe in 1968 for a couple of weeks on an ‘Educational’ opportunity but I’ll leave the rest of that discussion to your own imaginations, but did you know teens could buy beer in Germany back then?! Funny though, after all those experiences with Phil I never knew his given first name was John. I last ran into Phil some many years ago where he was serving behind the bar at Hobby’s. In retrospect, it was nice to have that brief opportunity to touch base with him once again. My deepest condolences to Phil’s friends, family, and partner. In hopes it will help with the grief you all must feel at this sad time, I don’t think I ever saw Phil looking happier than he does look in the provided photo. I believe all of you being in his life at that time are probably a big reason for his smile and overall happiness. Rest In Peace my bandmate, travel-mate, Classmate of 1970, and my friend.

“Lone”, we love you and miss you our brother.
On behalf of the ISU crew: Craig, Barb, Brenda, Derek, and myself, we cherish all the good times while we were there. Although it’s been a while since we’ve seen you, the memories are strong.
Lone, you are a good heart and a good soul. Even though sometimes you tried to hide it :) We all knew better.
See you on the other side! We can go to Illinois, buy some lottery tickets ( for Maude), grab a cheeseburger, and stop by
T’s lounge to shoot some pool.
P.S. We love you but we’re not going to watch the Bill Dance Fishing Show!
Love,
Your Terre Haute Friends
Linda,
God bless you. We Are with you in thoughts and prayers.

Linda, I'm so sorry to hear about Phil's passing. We sure had a lot of fun at work! I don't remember seeing him much without his big smile. He never failed to jump in and help me if I needed it. I enjoyed his stories and funny pranks. He was one of a kind. One of the good guys. I was honored and blessed to know him. May God give you peace and comfort at this time. Robin Reed
