Obituary of Dale Allen Hopewell

Bedford – Dale Allen Hopewell, 80, of Bedford, passed away at 5:55 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington. Born November 1, 1942, in Sullivan, IN, he was the son of Curtis and Ruby (Knowles) Hopewell. He married Betty Weaver on November 17, 1962, and she survives. He was a graduate of Honey Creek High School with the class of 1960 and was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. He was the owner/operator of Burger Chef Restaurant from 1969 to 1984 when the name changed to Pleasers Restaurant. He continued ownership until 2003. He enjoyed golfing and wintering in Florida. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Betty, of Bedford; a sister-in-law, Geraldine “Jeri” Newman; two nieces; three great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nina Sue Hopewell. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
