Obituary of Robert W. Atkins

Jeffersonville, IN – Robert W. Atkins, 44, of Jeffersonville, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY. Born September 17, 1978, at Ft. Campbell, KY, he was the son of Steven E. Atkins and Ramona (Moore) Swango. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army after thirteen years of service. He was a hospital custodian at the Robley Rex V.A. Medical Center in Lousiville, KY. Survivors include his mother, Ramona Swango and husband, Richard, of Bedford; a sister, Brandy Dawn Atkins, of Bedford; his grandmother, Rita Mires, of Mitchell; a nephew, Dylan Atkins; a niece, Chloe Atkins; several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Steven; his grandparents, Frank Mires, Russell Moore, Jim and Wilma Atkins. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 16th at Mitchell Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of the American Legion Post #250 of Mitchell.
