Obituary of Hazel A. Fender

Bedford – Hazel A. Fender, 93, of Bedford, passed away at 9:41 am on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Stonecroft Health Campus in Bloomington, Indiana. Born October 19, 1929, in Bedford, she was the daughter of William Sydney Meadows and Effie (Shields) Meadows. She attended school in Heltonville, Indiana and later worked for Sarkis Tarzian, RCA, Crane Naval Supply Center and Bedford North Lawrence High School. Survivors include her son, Rickie King, her stepson, Bruce Fender, and her stepdaughter, Kim Wood. Her grandchildren and step-grandchildren include William King, Gerald Baker, Penny Baker, Shannon Marlett, Ki Eads, Amy Sons, Candious King, Kyle Sons, Malinda Trapanese, Brooke Giorgio, Bethany Hosey and Shelby Bridgette, along with 28 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Berniece Fender and Violet Edwards, her brother, Wayne Meadows; two daughters, Charlotte King and Leilia Thompson; her husband, Teddy Fender; and one great-grandchild, Sarah Robb. Her viewing will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 4 pm – 8 pm, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary in Bedford, Indiana. The funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Michael Nicholson officiating.
