Obituary of Lenora H. (Sipes) Owens

Heltonville – Lenora H. (Sipes) Owens, 77, of Heltonville, passed away peacefully at 12:35 am on Monday, January 2, 2023, at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington. Born June 1, 1945, in Lynnville, IN, she was the daughter of Vernon and Grace (Allen) Hearth. She married James R. Sipes on October 4, 1963, and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2004. She later married Homer “Dan” Owens and he survives. She was a homemaker and member of the Apostolic Faith Assembly. Survivors include her husband, Homer, of Anderson; children, Andy J. Sipes (Kelly), of Heltonville and Christy L. Axsom, of Bedford; grandchildren, Jamie Hendrickson (Michael), Jesse Sipes, Nicole Johnson (Kyle), Josh Sollman, and James David Axsom (Tiffany); several great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Fountain (Mike), of Norman; a brother, Ronnie Hearth (Kathy), of Bedford; a son-in-law, J.D. Cowden. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, a daughter, Amy Cowden; a grandson, Kagan Axsom; two sisters, Kay Stogdill and Donna Hearth (in infancy); three brothers, Lebert Hearth, Ralph Hearth, and Kenny Hearth (in infancy). A Memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 6th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Kenneth Allen officiating. Burial will be in Gilgal Cemetery. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to I.U. Health Hospice House. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
