Obituary of Ilah Mae Kern

Bedford – Ilah Mae Kern, 97, of Bedford, went home at 8:15 pm on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born June 12, 1924, in Washington Co., KY, she was the daughter of Arthur and Viola (Byrd) Richardson. She married Glen Wilson Kern on February 7, 1944, and he preceded her in death on September 7, 1997. She was a homemaker and an active member of the Englewood Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Janet Lynch and husband, Tony, of Williams; a son, Ronald Kern, of Bedford; five grandchildren, Kim (Lynch) Rainey and husband, Wesley, Cam Lynch and wife, Shechonia, David Kern and wife, Melanie, Michelle Wykoff and husband, Richard, Angela Johnson and husband, Eugene; nine great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Richardson, of Orleans. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Jean Medley; three brothers, Earl, Cletus, and Ralph Richardson; a grandson, Brian Kern. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 7th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Run Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, December 6th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
