Obituary of Lorena Violet New

Springville – Lorena Violet New, 87, of Springville, passed away at 11:44 pm on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital. Born March 3, 1934, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Henry and Reba (Baker) Raines. She married James D. New on October 3, 1953, and he preceded her in death on October 20, 2020. She was a homemaker. Survivors include three children, Robert D. New and wife, Betty, of Bedford, Theresa Isaacs and husband, Darrell, of Loogootee and Danny Joe New and wife, Jeanne, of Bedford; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Ray and Charlie Raines; three sisters, Betty McGill, Geraldine Dunn, and Sue Murphy; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Linda Nelson; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; six siblings. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, September 27th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Dwight Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the House of Prayer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, September 26th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
