Obituary of Richard E. Harris

Bloomington – Richard E. Harris, 87, of Bloomington, IN, passed away at 10:05 am on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Golden Living Center in Bloomington, IN. Born July 30, 1933 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Glen and Iva Lucille (Pitman) Harris. He was a carpenter, a barber and veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the East Oolitic Community Church and his hobby was wine making. Survivors include a sister, Patricia M. Chambers and husband, Carl, of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Herman K. Harris, and a sister Phyllis Eagan. Private services were conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 20th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Harold Godsey officiating. Burial was in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military rites accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
