Obituary of Alan Nikirk

Bedford – Robert Alan Nikirk, 73, of Bedford, passed away at 4:57 pm on Sunday, April 18, 2021. Born February 16, 1948 in Bedford, he was the son of Robert W. and Phyllis (Jackson) Nikirk. He married Nelda Ludlow on September 4, 1982 and she survives. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the U.S. Navy as a Boatswain’s mate. He retired from NSWC Crane. He was a member of Gillen Post #33 American Legion and Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, IL. Survivors include his wife, Nelda, of Bedford; three children, Aimee Mauk and husband, Greg, of Yukon, OK, Marty Nikirk, of Bedford, and Abigail Jostad and husband, Jeremy, of Tripoli, IA; a granddaughter, Macie Lynn Mauk; his mother, Phyllis, of Bedford; four siblings, Nancy Nikirk, of Ft. Wayne, Phillip Nikirk and wife, Marcia, of Anderson, Clara Shaw, of Bloomfield, and Sara Nikirk, of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 22nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that everyone wear a mask.
