Obituary of Warren Hudson
Warren Hudson, 78, of Bedford passed away on March 2, 2021 after a brief illness.
He was born on February 27, 1943 in Bedford to Theodore ‘Ted’ and Rachael (Short) Hudson. He married Sandra (Sandi) Rytkonen on May 9, 1964, and she survives.
Warren was a 1961 graduate of Shawswick High School and attended Porter Business College in Indianapolis.
He was a member of the Indiana National Guard from 1964 to 1970 and was stationed at Ft. Knox, KY and Ft. Mead, MD.
A member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association, Warren retired in 2007 from the Post Office in Bedford after 30 years of service.
Some of Warren’s favorite pastimes through the years included sitting around a campfire telling tall tales, mowing the lawn, watching baseball games, completing crossword puzzles, bird watching, and growing tomatoes.
He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Survivors besides his wife, Sandi, of 56 years, include two daughters: Kelly (David) Matthews of Loogootee and Stephanie Etheridge of Bedford and grandchildren: Bryce (Julie) Hudson, Tasha (BJ) Baker, Kayla (Gunnery Sergeant Zachary) Jones, Rachelle (Matt) Branham, Alexandra Etheridge, and step-grandchildren: Michael, Sean, and Tyler Matthews.
Great-grandchildren are Cameron Burns, Brayden Hudson, Braxton Hearn, Whitney Jo Williams, Zackery Jones, Loralye Jones, and step-great-grandchildren Ray, Peyton, and Kaya Baker.
Other survivors include siblings: Judy Hudson-Mavon (John) of Bedford and Tom (Linda) Hudson of Mitchell and sisters-in-law: Geri Espy of Florida and Linda (Rick) Flynn of Bedford and several nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his canine companion, Piper.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, father- and mother-in-law, Wilfred and Marian Rytkonen, a son, Timothy Scott at birth and a daughter, Whitney in 1999.
Cremation was chosen and no public services are planned. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
