I worked for Gloria at NSWC Crane in the contracting department in the mid 80s. She taught me a lot and she consider us as family. She cared deeply about each one of us in her branch and often asked how are family was doing. She was a special lady and friend.

Deepest sympathy to Julie and all of Gloria’s friends. I am deeply saddened by our loss of Gloria. Having met Gloria in 1985 when she became my supervisor in the Contracting Department, at NSWC Crane, she became my mentor and taught me service contracting. Most importantly we became friends. Gloria always treated me I was like a member of her family and I adopted her as my second Mother. Throughout my lifetime she was always there, providing guidance and friendship. When my daughter was small we spent many a happy weekend at Gloria and Ross’ house. I remember car rides to church at Silverville and trips to town for fast food. Each person could choose what restaurant they wanted their food from. That was Gloria wanting everyone to be happy. Over the last ten years Pat and I became especially close to Ross and Gloria, then just visiting Gloria after Ross passed away. We had many happy times and memorable visits together. I remember trips to Macy’s, many trips to favorite restaurants, and eating pie and ice cream afterward at Gloria’s. There were also happy Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners celebrated. My favorite memory is a couple of years ago when I spent a few days with Gloria from the day after Christmas through Gloria’s birthday on the 28th. We visited, baked cookies, shopped, went to the hair salon, and ate lunch at Claddagh our favorite restaurant for Gloria’s birthday. We had the best of times together. We had 35 years of irreplaceable friendship that I will always cherish and be grateful for.

I remember Gloria from years ago. Gloria was a part of some of my most treasured memories. Her sister was a dear friend to me as well as her nephew. My prayers to her daughter & her friends. Much love to all.

Julie, I'm so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. She was a great lady, pretty, smart, and had a good sense of humor. The memory I wanted to share with you was the time your Mother, Dad, Joe, and I went to Louisville to see Elvis Presley. Your Mother got the tickets. We were so excited to see him in person. It's a good memory among others. My condolences, Lynn Sample
