Obituary of Bill D. Baker
Bedford Bill D. Baker, 80, of Bedford, died at 9:10 pm on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the White River Lodge.
Born November 24, 1928 in Avoca, IN, he was the son of Aden and Stella (Massey) Baker. He married Roberta Chastain on October 4, 1952 and she survives. He retired from General Motors in Bedford in 1991. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local #440, the Calvary Chapel Church and the American Legion Gillen Post #33. He was a veteran of WW II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta, of Bedford; one son, Jay Donald Baker of Bedford; one daughter, Denise Dillman and her husband, Jay of Bedford; a sister, Mary Scheffel and her husband, Fred of Bedford and four grandchildren, Whitney Baker, Haley Baker, Garrett Baker and Molly Dillman. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Spencer Baker and three half-brothers. Funeral Information
Burial Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 2nd from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Jim McDowell officiating. will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, February 1st at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Donations Information
