Obituary of Margaret Rose Allen

Owensburg- Margaret Rose (Ashcraft) Allen, 92, of Owensburg, died at her residence on Friday, January 22nd. Born December 9, 1928 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Joseph Ashcraft and Blanche (Wright) Ashcraft. She married Robert Allen on October 6, 1951 and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2010. Margaret worked in electronics at Sarkes Tarzan, and then retired from NSWC Crane. She was a member of the Owensburg Baptist Church, 50 plus year member of Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a huge basketball fan, and loved following her grandchildren in their sports. Survivors include her daughter Debbie Lewis and husband Jim, of Springville; son Jeff Allen and wife Linda, of Bedford; grandchildren, Sarah Folmer and husband William, of Oolitic, Tyler Lewis and wife Kayla, of Oolitic, Jared Allen and fiancé Jordan Dager, of Indianapolis; Allen Lewis, of Springville, Jenna Allen, of Spain, Jorie Allen, of Chicago, John Robert Allen, of Bedford; great- grandchildren, Jamey Folmer, Molly Rose Folmer, Reed Lewis, and Evan Lewis; one sister Ruby Easton, of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Walter and Harold Ashcraft; sister Ada Hamilton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Jay Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Owensburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. In accordance with CDC guidelines, masks and social distancing are required. Attendance is limited to 50 people at a time. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Owensburg Cemetery.
