Obituary of Margie D. Godsey

Loogootee – Margie D. Godsey, 88, of Loogootee, formerly of Bedford, died at 2:20 am on December 25, 2020 at Loogootee Nursing Center. Born April 15, 1932, in Frazer, KY, she was the daughter of Emile and Ina (Jones) Brown. She married Thomas Godsey and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1983. Margie retired in 1982 from RCA. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Darlene Fields and husband Tim of Bedford, Jana Ferguson and husband David of Loogootee, and Tonda Fletcher and husband Mike of Mitchell; eight grandchildren, Kara Wilson, Holly Kopsho, Ryan Fields, Amber Sanders, Amanda Ferguson, Kyle Luttrell, Kristen Luttrell, and Thomas Fletcher; fourteen great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Carina Wilson, Nickolas, Nathan, and Brayden Kopshaw, Riley and Landon Fields, Kyler, Emma, Emmitt, and Willow Fletcher, and Shane, Linni, and Renae Sanders; five sisters, Jenny Goldsberry and husband James of Corbin, KY, Frances Mercer and husband Jabbo of Monticello, KY, Linda Morrow and husband Lisle of Elletsville, Patsy Jett of Richmond, KY, and Nancy Ferguson and husband Rick of Elnora; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Brenda Luttrell; one grandson, Joshua Ferguson; two sisters, Violet Brown, and Murle Lawrence; and one brother, Roscoe Brown. Private funeral services will be conducted. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, December 28th at the Day & Carter Mortuary, and also from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 29th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. In accordance with CDC guidelines, masks and social distancing are required. Attendance is limited to 50 people at a time. Family insists that everyone wear a mask.
