Obituary of Dale H. Fletcher
Bedford – Dale H. Fletcher, 86, of Bedford, passed away at 2:20 am on Monday, October 12, 2020 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born July 28, 1934, he was the son of Bertram and Eva (Burford) Fletcher. He married Patricia Corbin on August 8, 1959 and she survives. Dale was a graduate of Mitchell High School with the class of 1952. He joined the National Guard in 1952. He spent six months at Fort Knox in officer’s training and then served another ten years. He began working at Roberts Brass in Mitchell in 1952 as a stock boy and rose to shipping supervisor. He was then employed as the plant manager for Bridgport Brass for several years. He ended his working career back at the same building, retiring as plant manager for the Dana Corporation in 2001. He was described as the best and fairest boss anyone could ask for. He attended the Bedford Free Methodist Church. Dale loved his farm and cattle, woodworking and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family and would do anything for them.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Patty, of Bedford; children, Brenton D. Fletcher and Mark A. Fletcher and wife, Kara, all of Los Angeles, CA, Amy Voris and husband, Joe, of Bedford; grandchildren, Jakob Fletcher, Maxine Fletcher, Evan Voris, Morgan Fletcher, and Emma Voris; brothers, Tom Fletcher and wife, Nancy, and George Fletcher, all of Bedford; a sister-in-law, Ruby Fletcher-Robertson, of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Duane Fletcher and Mike Fletcher; a sister, Jeanine Spaulding.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 17th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor John Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Saturday, October 17th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia Society or the American Heart Assoc. Due to Covid restrictions, the family asks that masks be worn.
