Obituary of Dorothy Faye Brock

Bedford – Our sweet mother, Dorothy Faye (Harrell) Brock, 96, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Garden Villa in Bedford. Born May 23, 1924 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Lark and Iva (Hanner) Harrell. She married Gerald V. “Dick” Brock on May 18, 1946 and he preceded her in death on August 19, 1998. Dorothy was a Bedford High School graduate with the class of 1942. During WW II, she worked at Delco Remy in Bedford where her future father-in-law encouraged her to meet his son when he returned from the war and the rest is history. was a member of the Bedford Free Methodist Church for over 70 years where she had taught Sunday School classes with her life-long friend, Beaulah Newland. Dorothy loved her family and enjoyed tracing her family history through genealogy. She is survived by her three children, son, William A. Brock and wife, Marilyn, of Mitchell, daughter, Sara Leeann Conley, of Bedford, and son, Richard A. Brock and wife, Rhonda, of Williams; five grandchildren, Lori (Brian) Burton, of Ferndale, WA, Larry Kirk (Jodi) Brock, of Bloomfield, Denise Brock, of Kodiak, AK, Matthew (Viola) Brock, of Fayetteville, Paul (Susanna) Brock, of Williams; eleven great-grandchildren, Josh and Andrew Burton, Elizabeth and Isabel Brock, Oceia and Donnie Vinberg, Emily, Kaylee, and Jayvan Brock, and Joshua and Elaina Brock; a brother, Ralph Harrell, of Bedford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, William Fred Harrell and Ray F. Harrell. Private graveside services will be conducted at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
