Obituary of Lynuel W. Lackey

Bedford Lynuel W. Lackey, 89, of 1515 Third Street, Bedford, died at 4:15 pm on Sunday, October 31, 2004 at his residence. Born August 21, 1915 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Preston and Eulalia (Bowman) Lackey. He married Zora M. Mitchell on December 11, 1934 and she preceded him in death on May 29, 2003. He retired from Otis Elevator in Bloomington and was a member of Old Union Church. He was a veteran of U.S. Navy serving with the SeaBees. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Blevins of Bedford; two sons, Benny Lackey of Bloomfield and Kenny Lackey of Bedford; ten grandchildren, Terry Blevins, Danny Blevins, Jeff Blevins, Ronnie Blevins, Kim Blevins, Benny C. Lackey, Brad Lackey, Renee Lackey, Derrick Lackey and Kenny Lackey; eight great grandchildren, Joshua and Alyssa Lackey, Ryan, Laura, Kyle, Dustin, Heidi and Jesse Blevins; one great great grandson, Garrett Blevins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Mildred Walters and Mary Roberts. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 4th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 3rd at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
