Obituary of Thomas Jr. Ryan

Bedford-Thomas Jr. Ryan, 92, of Bedford died at 10:38 pm on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born August 26, 1927, he was the son of Thomas and Melvina (Bray) Ryan. He married Opal Mae "Polly" Morrison on January 10, 1948. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2003. A veteran of WWII, he was a forklift driver at General Motors of 32 years and ran his own lawn care service. Survivors include two sons: Timothy Ryan and his fiance Frieda Wright, of Bedford, and Lawrence "Larry" Ryan of Shoals; one daughter: Karen James of Tell City; two sisters: Amelia Bricker and husband Robert of Muncie, and Kathleen Waltke and husband Johnnie of Bloomington; seventeen grandchildren: Donille Knaebel, Thomas Yeary, Teresa Patron, Nicole Ryan, Christopher Ryan, Corrie Pope, Mikey Ryan, Rachel Bunch, Stacie Jackson, Deanna Todd, Jeremy and Juston Sears, Jamie and Jennifer Steele, Matthew and Alexander Ryan, and Jessica Ryan. Along with several great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law: Jami Ryan of Heltonville. Preceding him in death is his parents, Thomas and Melvina, along with his wife, Polly, and his siblings. Four sisters: Kathleen Waltke, Amelia Bricker, Aleen Ryan, and Geneva Underwood. Three brothers: Frank Ryan, Robert ‘Bobby’ Ryan, and Lester Ryan. A son: Danny Ryan; three daughters: Janice Lewis, Rebecca ‘Becky’ Sears and husband David, and Tammy Brock; one daughter-in-law: Monica Ryan; two grandchildren; Clinton Ryan and Brian James; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 19th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Following Junior's wishes, cremation will follow.
