Obituary of Clarence Richard Brown

Bedford- Clarence Richard “Dick” Brown, 86, of Bedford, died at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 1st at Garden Villa nursing facility in Bedford. Born February 23, 1933 in Avoca, IN, he was the son of William Raymond and Julia Ruth (Owens) Brown. He married Margaret Louella Cassidy July 22, 1956 and she preceded him in death on November 1, 2015. He was a retired electrician from Owens Electric. Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea, and a lifelong member of the Avoca Baptist Church. Survivors include, his daughter, Salli Hanners and her husband Jeff of Springville; a son, Clarence Richard “Rick” Brown II of Bedford; three grandchildren: Jeremy Richard Lake of Springville, Jacob Steven Lake of Springville, and Stephen Oren Lake and his wife Stephanie of Needmore; three step-grandchildren: Dustin Hanners and his wife Amber of Oolitic, Jayson Hanners and his wife Janay of Bedford, and Jericca Del Fierro and her husband Salvador of Bedford; 16 great grandchildren; one brother, Rod Brown and Patricia Simmons of Avoca; and a special niece and caregiver, Kathy Shaw and her husband Jim of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret; one brother, William Brown; and two sisters: Judi Armstrong and Bonnie George. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 11th 2020 at the Avoca Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Wilkinson and Pastor Steve Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Avoca Baptist Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by members of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, February 10th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
