Obituary of Dorothy Ferry
Bedford – Dorothy E. Ferry, 67, of Bedford, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 3:47 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2019 at home while surrounded by her family.
Born January 28, 1952 in Brazil, IN, she was the daughter of Lester and Maxine (Buck) Morris. She married her longtime love and best friend, David Ferry, on July 25, 1970 and he survives. She was a homemaker and served as a pastor’s wife for nearly 35 of those years. She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church until her husband’s retirement last year and attended Woodville Baptist Church briefly until she become ill in February.
She loved to travel especially visiting the ocean. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed God’s creation and took many pictures of sunrises, sunsets and fall foliage. Her hobby was painting the barn art quilt boards. She painted several that were included in Lawrence County’s Bicentennial Quilt Board map.
Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband, Dave, of Bedford. She is the cherished mother of her son, David Jr. (Jennifer) Ferry and her daughter, Kimberly (Jeff) Wray, all of Bedford and loving and devoted grandmother to Isaiah and Marissa Wray, Rachel and Claire Sorrells, and Ian Ferry. Dorothy is also survived by her sister, Linda Morris and brothers, Jim Morris and Tony (Becky) Morris. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
As her illness progressed, her husband, Dave, and daughter, Kimberly were tirelessly by her side. She was blessed to have the love and dedication of her devoted caregivers throughout her battle.
Dorothy had a long-standing relationship with God. She shared God’s love with all who knew her. She spent her life as a hardworking, dedicated, faithful and loving woman. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life service will be held at Englewood Baptist Church on Friday, December 20th at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Glenn Hamer and Pastor Stephen Carter officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
