Obituary of Velma Jean Martindale

Springville – Velma Jean Helton Martindale, 76, of Springville, died at 9:55 am on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at White River Lodge.

Born September 19, 1943 in Loogootee, she was the daughter of Oscar and Thelma (Botkin) Helton. She married James Martindale on March 31, 1964 and he preceded her in death on March 22, 2015. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two children, Terri Marie (Kent) Robbins, of Bedford, and James (Lana) Martindale, Jr. “Doodle”, of Springville; eight grandchildren, Jason Veatch, Shawna Roberts, Jena Clouse, Kristina Clouse, Brent Veatch, Allison Rayhill, Thomas Martindale “T.J.”, and Cinnamon Martindale; three brothers, Brchel, Kenny and Garrett Helton; a sister, Anita Mae Phegley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Shawn Redding; two brothers, Lowell and Oscar Helton; three sisters, Sharon Harper, Ruby and Myrtle Helton, and a grandson (at birth).

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 9^th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Bob Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Springville Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 8^th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
