Obituary of Victor J. Harrell
Bedford – Victor J. Harrell, 93, of Bedford, died at 2:03 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Stonebridge Nursing Facility.
Born March 29, 1926 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Lindley and Beache (Wright) Harrell. He married Lorena June Robbins on March 4, 1950 and she preceded him in death on January 31, 2016. He retired from NSWC Crane. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bedford, an active member of the American Legion Gillen Post #33, where he served as a member of the Honor Guard. He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army Air corps
Survivors include one son, Steve Harrell, of Bedford; one daughter, Judy Umphress and husband James, of Bedford; one granddaughter, Tonya Umphress, of Bedford; brother, Bobby Harrell and wife Adah of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, wife Lorena, two sisters: Joan Imhoff and Rhea Dawn Thomas, four brothers: Lawrence Harrell, Gene Harrell, Virnard Harrell, and Charles Harrell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 7th, 2019 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Bruce Ervin officiating. Burial will follow in the Leatherwood Christian Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 6th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
