Dear Karen & Family, Thank you for you & Johnny both for being such good
Christians. You were new at Vallonia Christian Church when a friend called
you to come & talk to me. I talked to you both that last Friday, Aug. 27th, l967.
You arranged my baptism at Brownstown that very same afternoon. Bob was
baptized 3 wks. later in September. It was your constant care & interest in our
souls that we are now 78 yrs. old and I can testify we are still saved. I was in-
volved in the music for the next 50 years, retiring 2 yrs. ago. I am so grateful
for Johnny & you being in our lives. My Bob passed away Nov. 20th (last week).
Forever grateful. Absolutely, forever grateful - forever!
Your friend, Helen Schwein, Plainfield, IN 46168

Dear Mrs. Johnson and Family,
We met Johnny under adverse circumstances: he was nearing his 100th chemo treatment and our son was struggling through his first treatments. His body reacted badly to some of the chemicals and each round usually ended in hospitalization to treat the side effects. The three of us were terrified. Johnny and another gentleman told Jesse that they all suffered the side effects and they all kept working to get better. He did not sugarcoat the experience, but he did invite Jesse into the camaraderie of men facing cancer with dignity and courage. Somehow that helped give us all strength, and we have been thankful for his kindness ever since. Even though you may not know or remember us, we mourn his passing along with you.

I know of very few people who have affected the lives of so many others through their journey of life on this Earth. Johnny was one of those people. I'll always remember one short statement he made, "People are just people." He accepted and loved anyone, no matter where they were in their life journey. He will wear his crown well.

Occasionally we meet Giants along the path of life. Johnny Johnson was one of those Giants.
I used to run into him at Rick's gym where he would do several 800lb leg presses. I don't remember him even warming up.
But Johnny's true strength was in his character which was molded by Jesus Christ.
Because of his extremely close relationship and love for Jesus he was able to love other people in a profound way. He spent his life loving the Lord and loving people. He was a friend to every child.
He helped me in so many ways in my ministry. I will never forget him. Greg Allen

I cherish the time Johnny spent helping to make the man that I am. They say “it takes a village”, Johnny and Karen did way more than their share of raising me and countless others. I would have to say, though taken for granted when they were happening, many of the best memories from my life include Johnny. I love you brother and look forward to walking those streets of gold with you.

I met Johnny through Mike and Karen Atchison. While having a conversation with Johnny I found out about his attendance at Grundy Mountain Mission School. We shared stories because I knew a teacher and students from there. I had the great pleasure of attending services at Dive a few times and enjoyed Johnny’s messages. I also loved his passion he had for the Sonshiners Quartet.

Johnny Johnson was such an inspiring pastor and most generous man I have ever met. When he was given a few feet, with God's hands on his shoulders, he took thousands of miles. This man was a man of God. He has left his mark in my life as well. He had a soft spot for children too. Huge heart! I loved when Johnny would tell stories of my momma (Laura Gugin Winters) growing up and how proud he was of her. Now, he is up there with her and I'm sure she is thrilled to see him. I will miss you Johnny. I'm glad you are united with our heavenly Father. Johnny's family will be in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless

Karen & Family,
What a steadfast man of God Johnny was. He made such a positive impact on my teen years from his sermons to the joy he brought to softball. I just mentioned to my family the other day that one of the best pieces of advice I have been given in life was from Johnny just before Vonda's wedding (when he remembered my unfortunate experience of passing out in front of the entire church during a long ago Easter Cantata) and that advice was "wiggle your toes." It kept me on my feet during the wedding and during a number of occasions since. I will always remember his fatherly smile and to "wiggle my toes."
Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers during this time of great sadness for what the world lost mixed with joy for what Johnny has gained.

Johnny played a huge part in my teenage years. He was a close and caring friend. Johnny baptised me in the summer of 1967 in a little pond behind our house on the lake road. We made many many trips to Paris Crossing together and he could always turn a ho hum day into a good time. The last time I seen Johnny was when he preached my Moms funeral at Johnsons in Vallonia in 1994.
