Obituary of Perley Jackson
Bedford – Perley Jackson, 73, of Bedford passed away at his residence from his long battle with cancer on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 1 pm.
JR was born in Vermont on February 18, 1946 and moved his family to Bedford in the early 70’s. Besides serving his country in the Air Force during Vietnam, he spent most of his life as a truck driver including 14 years driving for his friend, Gary Wade at Gary Wade Trucking. JR also lived in Texas and Los Angeles, CA where he owned the famous JR’s Cowboy Palace, which was featured in many films.
JR is survived by his wife, Roberta Hackman; her two daughters, Amanda Wilson and Michelle Hackman; his two daughters, Juli Tincher and Tammy Gutierrez; his two sons, Mark Jackson and Joey Jackson; his grandchildren, Shelby Chastain and Brady Tincher; his two sisters, Eileen and Anna; his two brothers, Homer and Bobby; his many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 31st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Sunday, March 31st at the Day & Carter Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services.
